Popular Pastor, Genesis to spend Two Years in jail Over Fraud

Lagos State High Court has condemned famous prophet and Shepherd accountable for Celestial Church of Christ Global Genesis Parish, Israel Oladele Ogundipe otherwise known as Israel Genesis, to two years detainment for duping a United Kingdom-based lady, Mrs Olaide Williams-Oni.

The directing appointed authority, Justice Olabisi Akinlade saw the priest as blameworthy of two of the seven charges brought against him and excused the leftover five over absence of proof.

Akinlade requested that he should pay the complainant the amount of N11m, which he illicitly acquired from her.

The appointed authority said.

Following the judgment, Rotimi Odutola, lead arraigning counsel for Lagos State, expressed gratitude toward the court for the decision.

As per the indictment, Ogundipe submitted the offense between August 30, 2002 and 2005.

During that period, he is claimed to have falsely acquired N14m and £12,000 in different tranches from the complainant.

Between August 30, 2002 and December 2003 at 32, Bello St Ladipo Estate, Shogunle, Lagos, he purportedly got N2.9m from Williams-Oni to buy an uncompleted structure for her however falsely changed the cash over to his own utilization.

The arraignment said that among March and December 2003 at Commint Bureau De Change, Broad Street, Lagos, he took £12,000 from the complainant, which was intended for the acquisition of four plots of land for building a mosque.

He is affirmed to have taken N8.5m between October 2002 and March 2003 from Williams-Oni for the acquisition of landed properties in Lagos, Odutola uncovered.

The arraignment likewise noticed that on different days somewhere in the range of 2002 and 2003, he had gotten N2.6m from the complainant by dishonestly speaking to her that he is a godly man and that the cash was to be utilized for his congregation.
