Eket School Principal Loses Husband, PFN Leader, Rev Etukudoh Through Suicide

When people kill themselves, they think they’re ending the pain, but all they’re doing is passing it on to those they leave behind. Suicide is man’s way of telling God, ‘You can’t fire me – I quit.

What would have made a reverred man of God to take his own life in controversial circumstances ? This is the salient question that has been agitating the minds of onlookers who are still shocked at the unexpected demise of Rev Esse Etukudoh, a church founder and one of the outstanding fathers of faith in Eket LGA.

Rev Esse Etukudoh was the incumbent Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria ( PFN ), Eket Branch, ditto for Eket Senatorial District and the Vice Chairman at the state level. He was a man of some sterling qualities, an easy going jolly fellow who clutched his Bible at all times. He was a good preacher of the word.

The pentecostal family were shocked to their marrows and shaken to its foundation last Wednesday when news filtered in that , one of their renowned fathers in the Lord has committed suicide in the oil rich city of Eket.

Though some pundits said that there were more to this abominable act than met the eyes, information on the real cause of his death still remained sketchy as at press time . Some school of thought said that it is not unconnected with depression, spiritual problems or church politics.

The clergyman has since been intered to mother earth at a public cemetery at Uyo according to some traditional injunctions associated with people who killed themselves.

The PFN chieftain is survived by his precious jewel of inestimable value, Eno, who is the principal of the oldest secondary school in Eket Local Government Area, St Francis Secondary School, Ikot Ataku and three children.

” They tell us that suicide is the greatest piece of cowardice… that suicide is wrong; when it is quite obvious that there is nothing in the world to which every man has a more unassailable title than to his own life and person”

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.

PFN Leader, Rev Etukudoh
